Sunday Run

After the beating I took on Friday I didn't really plan to run for the rest of the weekend.  But when I awoke to this on Sunday morning, I couldn't help myself.
Whitefish Bay--Sunrise
Because of high winds on Friday I set my tent up in the garage thinking that was the best place.  When I returned from the bar at midnight I found my tent in about 1/2" of water.  My sleeping bag and pillow had soaked the water up like a sponge.  It was a beautiful sight when all I wanted was sleep.  There wasn't much I could do, so I just crawled in my sleeping bag and told myself not to move...I didn't sleep much.  The wind was gone Saturday so I moved up to the first floor deck which was a much more suitable spot for a tent.  I think I was set up in the future living room.

a better campsite
 Friday before the rain
As I listened to the fishing boats on the bay and the sounds of the waves crashing on Whitefish's NW shore there was nothing I wanted more than to lace up my wet running shoes.  Not really, but it was too good of an opportunity to pass up.

So after a couple days of wiring the new cabin and some adventure in my running shoes...that was it for me.  It was time to make the dreaded 300 mile drive home.
Bridge
The Mackinaw Bridge will always be impressive to me.  The span is massive!!

  1. Where's the pics of the soggy sleeping bag? That would suck. You should man up and stop using that leaky little kids tent.

  2. Hey that tent is usually bomb proof! The problem was I didn't put the rain fly on because I really didn't expect 2" of rain in an hour...and I was under t&g floor decking...guess I will know better for next time. Oh and the builder had duct tape over the floor drain to protect it from debris...so there ended up being a lot of water in there.

  3. I love the blog. Way better than BIM. I'm gonna switch for sure. That was a nice freaking run. Why the heck is it so hard for me to get 2000' when I'm surrounded by Mountains, but you can go rip it off like Nothing in Michigan??
