Ft. Custer Crash Spectacular

Another great mountain biking adventure, this time with Team 312.  Marty, Tony and I met up at Ft. Custer in Battle Creek.  The last time I rode this trail system was in 2003.  It's much better than I remember.  The trails are a great mix of ups and downs, twists and turns, incredible terrain features like "The Trenches", some man mades and a fair share of big hits (Endo Hill).  Lovely.

Although the weather was perfect and the trails were dialed in we had a hard time keeping both wheels on the ground.  Between the three of us we crashed uphill, downhill and on flat ground at least a dozen times.  There were some hard falls taken but everybody came out OK.  I did see something that I've never seen in 20 years of mountain biking.  Tony clipped a root, went over the bars and his bike came to rest balanced on seat and bars with tires pointing skyward...really impressive work Tony!

After the ride we enjoyed some beers at the Barking Frog in Agusta.  It was good riding with you boys and I can't wait to do it all over again.  Hopefully next time we'll have the upper hand and be able to keep our tires on the ground.

I did not get the red shirt memo

Well no shit.  It should go without saying that any submerged sidewalk is going to be slippery.

  1. Had an outstanding time today, despite the pain. It was fun at least to get dirty and just "continue on". Great pics and video. We'll have to do it again!
